Dear People of God,
It’s time to have a new parish theme to lead us this year in our spiritual growth! Here are some factors that played into the choosing of the new theme:
1. 19th Sunday of Ordinary time Scripture reading that stayed with me for days...
Lk 12: 32-48
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be…”
The “little flock” touched my heart and I don’t remember ever hearing this phrase before. I began to think about how we are all “little” in so many ways. We struggle in our vocations, with our kids, friends, family, jobs, health, stress, and worry with all that’s going on in the world. We, the “little flock,” need our creator to make it through this life in a way that helps us find our way to eternal joy with our Father in heaven.
2. At the Priest Convocation we were informed about the USA Catholic Churches Eucharistic Revival. The need for us to be close to the mysteries of the Body and Blood of Christ is essential to the “little flock”. We need the Eucharist, the food for the jouney, and we are invited by The High Priest Jesus Christ to take part in the sacrifice that is our salvation.
3. This year we will also soon be back in our Main Sanctuary at Holy Rosary Rosenberg, which will cause us to honor and practice the sacrifice in a profound and beautiful way. In the midst of this, we and the whole Church are welcoming everyone back to the Holy Mass and place the Holy Mass at the center of our lives.
Our theme for this next year:
“The little flock is invited to the big feast.”
May God bless you, Little Flock!
